Hardy B - 2017 Fixtures

Folke Hardy B are enjoying a successful season thus far but were in for their biggest test so far in this Years Knock-Out Cup  - having never won a fixture in the competition! Captain Leaky Lloyd had to re-jig his side a little but none the less a strong side was sent down to take on Ferndowns Hardy B team on the Alliss Course. Things were always going to be tough for the Folke boys when Village Hinks was heard to say “you had to think your way around the course” - not many "thinkers" in the village!!

The Captain elected to send himself out first alongside club veteran Dave Bamford. The usually reliable pair found the going tough and had to concede defeat on the 17th hole 2&1. Next up was Craig Pitcher alongside Taff Lewis. Things didn't look great early on with Craig finding the bushes on the first hole down a tight fairway. Again, as the match before, a tight affair was to be had, but some good putting from the visitors ensured the pair shook hands on 18th having secured a fine half.

Third out was Village Hinks and Primate Hodges, Village has been struggling for form of late although Hodges was playing half decent. Hodges finding the fairway down the first with a fine Tee shot was the highlight of the pair’s day as they slid to a 8 & 7 hiding. They were last seen on the balcony of the Ferndown Clubhouse, - a concern for welfare was duly issued alongside removal of their belts & shoelaces.

Fourth out was the reliable Blatchford who this week was paired with Blackburns No1 Fan Lee Smithy. Playing good cop bad cop seemed to work for the pair as Smiths big stick and Blatchys' mid irons (less the odd shank) wound there way eloquently around the thinkers course! However reaching the turn 1 down against a formidable pairing they upped their game playing the back nine level par to seal a superb 1 up victory.

Last but by no means least was the bionic Geo Taylor alongside Dave Subby. A tough afternoon was had by the young & old pairing who had to shake hands on a hefty 5&4 defeat.

Back at the clubhouse the score was declared as 3½ -1½  in Ferndown’s favour. Again, some great banter was had by both sides and another enjoyable days golf....especially for those that won :-)

Good Luck to Ferndown in the next round and for the Folke boys they need to regroup and concentrate on their league fixtures.

Finally a line for the Captain.....Real golfers don't cry when they line up their fourth putt :-)
